Cusco - Mollepata - Challacancha - Soraypampa - Humantay Lagoon
distance 12 km (3 hours of travel) between 4:20 a.m. at 4:50 a.m. We will pick you up from your hotel - Cusco in our tourist bus, then we will go with a trip to the town of Mollepata (height of 2900mt-9514 feet) which is at a distance of approximately 2 hours from the city of Cusco , where we will take a break of about 20 minutes where you can prepare with last minute supplies or anything you have forgotten in the city (water, rain poncho, insect repellent , etc.). Then we will continue our trip to the place of Challacancha, which is the beginning of the walk (height of 3600 mt-11500 ft.); Then we will have 5 hours of travel along the road until we reach the base of the camp called Soraypampa (height 3912 mt -12834 ft.); where we will have lunch enjoying the panoramic view of mountains, breathing the thin air of mountains and their geography like the snow-capped Humantay (4200 mt- 13779 ft) and also the Nevado del Salkantay (6271 mt-20575 ft), after a break we will make an ascent for 1 hour of walk towards the Humantay lagoon and then we will return to the base of the camp where we will have time to have a tea and also dinner.
Day 2:
Soraypampa - Paso Salkantay - Huayrapunku - Chaullay
distance 22 km (9 hours of travel) This is the most difficult day of the trek, for this reason we get up at 5:00 a.m. and breakfast will be 5:30 a.m. our walk will begin 6:00 a.m .; "However, waking up at dawn in the middle of the vast grasslands of Soraypampa, the sun illuminating the Andean mountain peaks gushing out from behind makes for an energizing and fascinating start to a good day of hiking." Now we make an ascent to the pass lasting 3 to 4 hours of walking along the road until we reach the Salkantay pass (height 4630 mt-15190 ft) “Although the air is scarce and it is steep”; Once you have crossed the pass we will have a traditional Andean ceremony with the whole group, then we will make a descent to the place of Huayrapunku (height 3912 mt-12834 ft) where we will have a lunch and then we will continue to the second Chaullay camp (height 2900 mt- 9514 ft). "On the road to Chaullay there are several tent camps and small villages scattered among the plains, and it is amazing to think that there are a handful of local people who are permanently living so far removed from modern society and in such harsh natural conditions."
